Should drivers worry about the cameras?

Navirec cameras are a tool, not a surveillance device. European Commission road safety statistics show that a large share of traffic accidents are still linked to limited visibility and delayed reactions. These cameras protect drivers just as much as the company.
- 01 Better overview – clear evidence of what actually happened.
- 02 More protection – evidence in the driver’s favor in case of an accident or dispute.
- 03 Clear accountability – actions on the road can be clearly proven when needed.
Where and why should cameras be installed?

- Trucks and trailers – eliminates blind spots, monitors the trailer door, and records important events on the road.
- Vans – detects unauthorized access to the cargo area and covers the vehicle’s surroundings day and night.
- Heavy machinery – protects expensive equipment from theft and vandalism, and monitors the work site.
- Passenger cars – an all-in-one solution combined with GPS tracking.
- Special vehicles – provides visibility even at remote and scattered work sites.
How does it work?
All Navirec cameras integrate seamlessly with our platform. Footage is stored securely and linked with GPS data, showing the exact time and location of each event. Real-time access enables quick response and driver training. Real-time access to footage is also available directly through the Navirec mobile app, so your fleet overview stays within reach even when you’re away from a computer.
How do companies use Navirec cameras on a daily basis?
Minor dispute resolution – helps quickly clarify the causes of minor collisions and worksite incidents.
Proof of working hours – a running engine doesn’t always mean work is being done; the camera gives managers a real picture.
Trailer security – prevents unauthorized access to the trailer and helps with safe reversing at loading sites.
Surroundings monitoring – for valuable or hazardous cargo, see in real time whether the vehicle is being followed or if there’s suspicious activity nearby.
Worksite monitoring – the camera can also monitor a fixed worksite, not just a moving vehicle.

Frequently asked questions
- Do Navirec cameras also film the driver?
The forward-facing camera monitors what’s happening in front of the vehicle; additional cameras cover the sides, rear, and cargo area. Filming the cabin without the driver’s signed consent is not permitted – we recommend arranging such agreements before installation.
- Do the cameras record audio too?
Yes, audio recording can be added if desired.
- Is recording legal?
Yes, as long as it complies with GDPR requirements. If needed, video evidence can be used in both police investigations and insurance claims.
- Do the cameras record continuously?
The cameras start recording automatically once the ignition is turned on, so drivers don’t need to remember to start recording themselves.
- How long is footage stored?
Event-based recordings are available on the Navirec platform; continuous recording on the SD card is kept until the card is full – after which the oldest footage is overwritten.
